To gain more design ideas, I am going to look at two influencial designers which link to my research well. The first being Issey miyake and the second Hussein Chalayan.
This knitted coat reminds me a lot of the waves seen in the work by Reuben Margolin. The wave like textures is made my pleating and the bands of colour in the knit. The structure of it has the 'subtractive cutting' look which is architectually inspired. It is a very visual piece where the pleats and bands could help me influence my designs in portraying the message of a way to communicate the writing in my research.
I think this is brilliant! The process of how all the material at the start of the performance is used to make garments and accesories shown on the models at the end. This could be a big influence in my design development, as it shows different ideas on how I can use movement to portray my message.
Dress, ca. 1990 Issey Miyake This dress has been given shape through two methods, pleating and cutting techniques. The colours and straps are very simple not distracting from the other assets. The shape made is very structured, not only by the actual dress but also with the lines made by pleating. When on a model the dress will move with the model making it look different which could in turn give a whole new look. |
