The Idea of Language and Communication

After the briefing I was thinking of the type of communication I wanted to research further in to. During the briefing I was really inspired by art made by Cocky Eek, so I visited their website and found one project that I really enjoyed looking at, it was called Illumine.

The transparency of the material used attracts the light to show the shape of object, also the surface it is on creates a reflection. Natural Light plays a big role in showing the art in its best way. The picture makes it look like there is no one around and is very quiet and serene.

The light in this picture is positioned so it shines through the dress but also creating a dark silhouette of the model, this creates a certain edge and mood to the photo along with the shape of the dress. For me it feels awkward but again silent. The hand is very rigid, but the dress brings a certain softness to the pose along with the arched back.

You can not see much of the object during the night, only a flash of pink and the light source. Without sound or more of the picture the location is unknown and also the scale of the object is, is it just one side of it or is the pink flash the outline of the whole object?  This picture creates a lot of mystery.

This is my favourite out of all the pictures. I feel the openness of the picture, how the objects seems as its just gliding, and the reflection makes the picture have movement but placidity. The difference between the lightness of the 'ice-whizz' and the person carrying it and also the light and dark contrast between the sky and what is in the horizon makes for a contrasting mood.

This is showing Process Art well, as the nine pictures each show a different pose, maybe only adjusting slightly from the last, which then results in how much light is shown. If one of these pictures just got displayed, each would have its own meaning created by the pose and the light. Again I can not picture any sound with this. When the pictures are all placed together like this there seems to be a fluid movement to it and the middle picture placed strategically to create light to the whole picture even though they are separate.

Looking at these pictures and how much light and shape can create a message and meaning, I'm going to focus my research on how deaf people communicate.
